The latest updates to publications on Medium
Thanks to your feedback, we’ve improved the mobile publishing experience and added new navigation options for publications.
A few months ago, we released an update to our mobile app publishing flow. It was the first step of upgrading this key feature, and we’re continuing to improve it. Based on the feedback from Medium writers and publishers, we’ve made a few changes that make it easier to publish stories into publications on mobile (and for publication editors to manage those stories), as well as two new options for navigation inside a publication.
First up, we’ve added the ability to submit your story to a publication while using our mobile apps — whether you are an editor or writer for that publication. Publication editors can now also publish submitted posts directly from the Medium mobile app: When a post is submitted to a publication, the publication editor will receive an email linking out to the draft; when they open that link on a mobile device, it will take them into the app, where they will be able to review and publish it.
These changes are rolled out on iOS and Android; if you don’t see them yet, make sure your app is up-to-date.
Also: To give editors more control over what they can feature on the publication navigation, we’ve added two new dedicated tab options to the publication navigation options on desktop. With Trending and Latest, you can give your audience direct access to a list of the trending or most recent posts from your publication.
You can configure both of the new tabs from within your publication’s setting: Go to the “Navigation” option in the dropdown menu of your publication, and you’ll be able to configure them there.
