At Medium, we want our platform to be a safe place for everyone to share their stories and ideas. That includes having control of your experience on Medium. As someone who’s experienced online harassment, this is also an important personal issue for me.

We already offer you basic features to control how much email we send you, allow you to curate your experience by choosing which people and publications to follow, and give you the tools to report posts as spammy or abusive. Today, I’m pleased to announce that we’re rolling out support for blocking other accounts on Medium.

You can find the block user control on someone’s profile next to the follow button, or on the “More” menu at the bottom of a post. When you block someone on Medium, they won’t be able to follow you or see your profile or posts when logged in. Blocking someone also has a muting effect — we’ll filter their content from what you see on Medium.

For more details about what happens when you block somebody, check out this post.
