Readers turn to our iOS and Android apps every day to tap into the best stories on Medium — looking for perspectives and inspiration from their favorite writers, passionate experts, and world leaders. And more and more, people use our app to read the latest content from their favorite Medium publications.

Thousands of popular publications have emerged on Medium — including Bill Simmons’s The Ringer, influential tech outlets like Backchannel, Bloomberg Tech, and Hacker Noon, life learning hub The Mission, the inspiring Smart Girls from Amy Poehler, humor destinations like Slackjaw and Bullshitist, cultural commentary from The Hairpin, entertainment analysis sites like Film School Rejects and Cuepoint, poetry epicenters like Poets Unlimited, and content hubs from brands like Slack, Huge, Starbucks, and HubSpot.

Launch your favorite publications

Starting today, our apps feature a fresh new home for publications — so you can dive into the publication you’re in the mood for, instead of just seeing their stories when they show up in your reading list.

Now, you can easily jump into your favorite publications with the new carousel on our iOS and Android apps.

Only publications that you follow on Medium will be featured on your app’s home screen (and only when they have new posts to read), so make sure to follow publications you enjoy. You can find suggested publications to follow here, or hit the Explore button (next to Publications) on your app’s home screen to browse curated categories. If you want a refresher on the publications you currently follow, that list is available here.

Explore Medium in the way that works for you

When you open the app, your home screen lets you take control of what you want to read:

  • Collections: Choose from hand-picked, timely selections from our editors.
  • Publications: Read the latest from great publications you follow.
  • Reading list: Or, scroll through a personalized list of stories based on the people, publications, and tags you follow.

We’ve also moved the bookmarks and search buttons for simpler navigation. Bookmarks is now more prominent, so you can quickly return to stories from your favorite writers and publications that you saved to read later.

Jump into a refreshed stats experience

On our iOS app, we’ve refreshed the stats section (available within the 👤 tab), which reports on the performance of stories you’ve published. We’ve added a quick link to your stats on our 3D Touch menu, rebuilt the page so it’s faster, and added pull to refresh functionality.

You can now access your stats via our 3D Touch menu on iOS to check out how many people are reading your stories.

Update your Medium app now on iOS or Android. Then, write a response to this post with a list of your favorite publications on Medium, so other readers can find great ones to follow.
