When you click the “image” tool during the drafting of your story, try selecting multiple picture files from the pop-up window. Then, watch how Medium automatically lays them into a grid, depending on the number of images you selected. You can also click any individual image to see it bigger.

Cool, huh? We think so. But we know you’re asking, “How does such an awesome new feature come about on Medium?” Well, that’s an interesting story…

This is Dustin. He’s a designer here at Medium.

Dustin loves beautiful images. He loves to take them, and he loves to make them look their absolute best on Medium.

Dustin had an idea.

“What if we could group multiple images together? How would that look?

So he grabbed Tina, an engineer at Medium, to help him write the code, and they got to work. Well, they did take a break or two.

Unfortunately, Dustin and Tina ran into some problems finishing the project. So they turned to the one Medium employee who is known for getting things done: Anybot.

There were a few tense moments, but in the end the team successfully delivered our newest feature.

P.S. Can anyone recommend a good San Francisco-based Anybot repairman specializing in liquid damage?
